Finding the right solution for Server Room Temperature Monitoring
Server room monitoring is critical in preventing disruptions and malfunctions of the server and can lead to downtime. An environment where computer servers are kept for continuous operation can easily become overheated or suffer from low humidity. Both of these aspects ultimately lead to failure. By considering a temperature and humidity sensor for continuous server room temperature monitoring, you can be the first to know if the temperature or humidity falls outside of the pre-determined ranges.
How does temperature affect the server room?
There are a number of risks associated with server room temperatures. Essentially, if a server room's heat rises you risk the failure of the hardware. Malfunctions can occur to various components when the temperature increases, which leads to system crashes and usually permanent damage too.
Other consequences of the absence of a server room monitoring solution include unscheduled downtimes, hot spots, out-of-hours threats to operations and energy inefficiency.

Data Loggers for Server Room Monitoring
The SenseAnywhere data loggers have proven records of assisting businesses in recovering thousands through the notification of a temperature or humidity fluctuation. The SenseAnywhere data logger system feeds secure data to the cloud, which can be accessed from any smart device. This wireless logger provides the added benefit of monitoring conditions 24/7, in real-time, from anywhere in the world.
Alerts are sent to any connected smart devices so in the event that conditions change to pose a threat, you can resolve these excursions before any costly failures occur. The system has a 10-year battery life and a 5-minute data storage capability, so you can have complete traceability and record keeping of your server room temperature monitoring.
The system can be set up in minutes.
This powerful logger can be set up in a matter of minutes! For larger spaces, the SenseAnywhere system can connect multiple loggers to the AccessPoint to specify the conditions of specific room areas or server racking.

Quick Start Guide:
Server Room Temperature Monitoring
Server room temperature monitoring is required because server rooms consist of a mixture of both hot and cool air, due to server fans producing hot air, while air conditioning and other cooling systems yield cool air to counteract this.
Offsetting the server room temperature is a top priority when ensuring no risk of downtime. The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) advise temperature conditions for server rooms should be between 18°C - 27°C. Anything higher or lower than this should be an immediate cause for concern as it could lead to system failure.
For this reason, it is important to install a server room temperature monitor with alarm functions to notify the user before temperatures reach undesired levels.
Humidity is another factor to consider, ASHRAE’s recommendations suggest the ideal rH is 50% for optimal performance. They also suggest minimum rH levels of 20%, and a maximum of 80% to avoid system failure. Again, alarm functions and live data access are highly important to ensure issues can be prevented and rectified before they occur.
