Veriteq OPC Server
Veriteq Instruments announces their new OPC server, a software that allows the integration of Veriteq hardware with Windows-based programs. OPC stands for “OLE for Process Control” and is a non-proprietary specification that allows discrete applications and systems to communicate, eliminating the need for separate interfaces and custom drivers in data exchange.
OPC provides a standard, high performance interface that permits interoperability and allows data to be used by HMI, SCADA, Control and custom applications. Common platforms include: iFIX and Wonderware. The OPC server allows easy integration of Veriteq's autonomous, high accuracy data recorders into any OPC-compatible monitoring system.
Veriteq's Applications Manager Jon Aldous has overseen the OPC project and is pleased with the simplifying effect the server will have for users. “Instead of using sensors wired back to their centralized processor, the OPC server lets our customers easily connect to our data recorders from their existing system.”
The server grants all the advantages of Veriteq’s failsafe monitoring solution to other OPC-compatible systems. This allows users the superior capabilities of Veriteq’s autonomous data recorders, complete with high-stability sensors and industry-first 10-year battery life. Ideal for backing up bulkier, centralized systems, Veriteq’s monitoring system eliminates the “single point of failure,” one of the biggest weaknesses of centralized systems.
Aldous says, “With the OPC server, our customers are no longer stuck with the choice between working with two or more systems, or a facility-wide changeover to upgrade to a Veriteq system. Now they can use their existing system, while integrating our hardware in whatever increments work best for them.”
“When I think about the advantages [the OPC server] gives to our customers, it really is impressive,” says Veriteq’s CEO Kevin Bull. “This is one of those perfect moments when we significantly improve the quality of people’s experience.”
